A survey or review paper has become increasingly more important as it serves as a comprehensive source of preliminary literature review and rich references for researchers. In this presentation, a gentle introduction to writing a survey and review paper will be given, specifically from the data communications and networking perspective. First, the presentation highlight the nature, importance, and impact of the survey paper. Then, we discuss typical steps in preparing a survey paper. The presentation outlines a few tips to improve the survey paper preparation. Finally, the presentation provides a brief overview of IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (COMST).

Dusit Niyato教授简介：

Dusit Niyato教授，男，新加坡南洋理工大学计算机科学与技术学院教授，IEEE Fellow，IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials 主编（影响因子 25.49）。目前已在无线与移动通信领域发表了超过 600 篇高水平学术论文，并拥有 4 项美国与德国专利，12 项顶级期刊和会议最佳论文奖，论文被引总量已超 35000 次，H 因子 88。其当前著有包括《无线与通信网络中的博弈论：理论、建模与应用》等 4 部专著（由剑桥大学出版社出版）。

他获得了 IEEE 通信学会亚太地区最佳青年研究者奖项，以及 2011 年 IEEE 通信学会 Fred W. Ellersick 奖。先后担任 IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials 主编，IEEE Wireless Communications Letter 期刊的资深编辑、IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications 期刊无线电管理与访问控制方向编辑、IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials 期刊网络服务管理与绿色计算方向编辑、IEEE Transactions on Communications 期刊编辑、IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology 期刊副主编、IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing 期刊副主编、IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking 期刊副主编。他同时也是 IEEE Journal on Selected Areas on Communications 期刊编辑。他于 2016-2017 年度被授予 IEEE 通信学会杰出主讲人奖项，2017-2021 年度均名列全球计算机科学领域高被引学者。
